I am married to my best friend/junior-high sweetheart, Matt Sawyer. We have a 5 year old-Edison, a 2 year old-Beckham, and a little girl, Gracelyn, coming mid July. Besides my faith, family, and teaching, my passion is music and photography. I enjoy playing instruments,singing, and capturing priceless memories through my camera.  

I am entering my 9th year of teaching and my love for teaching first graders continues to grow. I love being apart of making a difference in the lives of my precious students. When my students walk in to my classroom, it is my mission to ensure that they know they are in an environment where they can be themselves, explore, grow, have fun, make mistakes, and develop a love of learning. Through music, art, and the core subjects, my desire is to provide my students with the best possible instruction to prepare them for the future. I believe in a classroom atmosphere that fosters structure, respect, fun, and safety. It is my hope that my students love coming to school and that I can help them become a better version of themselves. I am thrilled to be a teacher at Lakewood Primary School, and more importantly, I'm thrilled to be your child's first grade teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. Let's make some wonderful memories!
